Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) believe in pursuing the art of perfection, the sports department is an example to this fact as they have not rested on the past laurels having grown much more stronger this time. At this esteemed university, the department believes in the development of cadets & students and hence, apart from the success stories in the academic disciplines, the management of Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) provides encouragement and support to sports in an immense way. With this unconditional support, the sports department went on to bring glory to the university in all sports disciplines. The department has evolved as a team which is committed to producing sports personality at National level.
It’s an eventful year for the cadets & students on the sports field. AMETUNISPO & Mr.AMET Body Building Competition had helped the students hone their talent and sharpen their skills.
Some of the achievements in National Level and State Level Tournaments in the year 2014:
The Department conducts Intramural competition for the students every year in the memory of Late Mr.G.Janakiraman, Father of President, Dr.J.Ramachandran. All the matches were conducted on League basis. Overall winners will be awarded “AMET .G.JANAKI RAMAN MEMORIAL ROLLING TROPHY”
Staff Cricket Match was conducted for Veterans on 7th March 2014 at Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) Ground. Vice Chancellor XI was the Winner of the Veterans Match and Registrar XI was the Winner of the Staff Cricket match. This year Table Tennis and Chess were conducted for Teaching Staff and Recreational Activities like Lemon Spooning, Lucky Corner, Musical Chair and Tag of War were conducted for Non teaching staff.
The sportspersons of the university has once again done the university proud and with every passing year. The Students efforts have not gone in vain as the university has always recognized them as invaluable assets and an integral part of this premier university in Maritime Education, not only in Maritime but also in all the fields in Sports and Games.
