Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) Deemed to be University has been established with specialized focus on marine and maritime fields, which are economically sound, historically important and socially essential. It has identified this emerging area as its focus with the promise to prove excellence.
AMET Business School was started in the year 2001 and launched the unique sector-specific MBA programme in Shipping and Logistics Management, which is the first of its kind in India. The Programme has been designed to equip the students with adequate skills and knowledge in the Maritime Management Sector.

The AMET Business School also has the entire wherewithal in terms of Faculty, infrastructure, Library, State-of-Art Classrooms etc., contributing to the holistic enabling atmosphere for learning. Faculty members of AMET Business School have delivered Special Lectures in Malaysia, Dubai and Sri Lanka. The Faculty members were sponsored to go abroad in the name of Faculty Exchange Program. AMET has sponsored their Air Travel, Boarding and Lodging.
The Faculty members from various countries like Singapore, Australia, South Africa, East Africa, Ajman and Dubai have delivered Special Lectures in AMET Business School. AMET has sponsored their visit to deliver the special lectures to the MBA students in the area of their expertise. The Faculty Exchange Programmme has benefitted MBA students to have an international exposure with regard to the managerial concepts in the areas of Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Shipping Business, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Port Operations and Multimodal Transportation.
The Faculty Members of the Department were involved in Collaborative Research with the industry Professionals and Academicians. The faculty members have published collaborative research articles in the reputed journals, which are Scopus Indexed and approved by UGC-CARE.
The Industry and Institution Collaboration acts as a bridge between Industry and Academia leading to Connect which promotes industry interactions among the students by arranging internships and special lectures. It also promotes formal MoU with industries. The Industry Connect also helps the Faculty members to get financial supports or sponsors from Industry to take part in the research-oriented activities.
All India Management Association (AIMA) has accredited AMET to use the AIMA’s Bizlab with 120 student licenses. AIMA’s BizLab is a first of its kind virtual lab for management students. Just like the laboratories for other education fields, using the AIMA’s BizLab software, students can “experiment” with various management strategies and tactics on the given scenario. The business lab has been designed specifically keeping the learning habits of the new generation of students. AIMA’s BizLab provides an unparalleled learning experience to the students in all the functional areas of management.
The MBA students are taken to Dubai every year have an opportunity to visit International Ports and Logistics Companies, interact with Shipping and Logistics Professionals and meet AMET’s Alumni working in United Arab Emirates. There are more than 150 MBA Alumni working in the states of United Arab Emirates such as Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali and Fujaira. The MBA students are provided with excellent opportunity to interact with the Alumni through Alumni Meet. The Industry Professionals working in Shipping and Logistics Companies in Dubai are invited for the guest lecture during the visit to Dubai. The guest lectures provide an excellent overview of the current trends in the shipping and logistics industry in the United Arab Emirates and also around the Globe. The MBA students are taken to Dubai Ports, Warehouses and Container Freight Stations to learn the International Operating Procedures followed in the loading and discharging of Cargoes from the Ships and Containers.
The Department has partnered with the Industry and Academic Institutions through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). For the benefit of the students, the MoUs facilitate the Department to have various activities such as Placement Training, Conducting of Online Classes, Workshops, On-the-Job Training, Joint Publication and Collaborative Research.
AMET Alumni Association (A3) provides the ideal platform for its alumni to maintain connections to their alma mater and fellow graduates. It seeks to extend unique privileges and benefits to its members. The platform endeavours to support new alumni and provide a forum to form new friendships and even business relationships among its members.
The AMET Business School also offers Ph.D. Programme, in all spheres of Management in-tune with the overall standards of the University.
