AMET UNIVERSITY WINS SAILOR TODAY AWARD

The 7th Annual Sailor Today Seafarer Awards 2008, in association with Videotel London, supported by Lotus Forex Hongkong, recognized and awarded AMET University , in the category of "Innovation in Maritime Training (Organisation)", at the gala awards function on 15th March 2008 at Emerald Club, Royal Palms, Goregaon (East), Mumbai.

Sailor Today, the pioneer magazine in this segment, had instituted the Seafarer Awards six years back on the occasion of ten-year celebrations of the publication. The Awards, are an effort to recognize the invaluable services rendered by the Indian Seafarer, Shipping Companies, Training Institute, Shipping Associations in National and International shipping arena.

The Sailor Today Seafarer Awards have set a new standard in the Indian Maritime Industry. The Awards function is the most high profile and anxiously awaited event in the shipping industry.

The 7th Annual Sailor Today Seafarer Awards 2008, was a glamorous affair, with Pooja Bedi compeering the show along with Second Officer-turned model Viraf Patel. The highlight was undoubtedly Aiswarya Rai Bachhan awarding Lifetime achievement award to her father Krishnaraj Rai an ex-Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy.

On behalf of the AMET University, the award was collected by Chancellor Mr Ramachandran and Vice-Chancellor Capt. S. Bhardwaj.
