Profile of the Department

Department of Mechanical Engineering is  catering to the requirements of all the Departments such as Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Naval Architecture, Petroleum Engineering, Harbour Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Information Technology. Basic Inputs are given in both Theory and practice for  all the Branches in First and Second year of the Four year Degree Programme. Students are given hands on experience to acquire the technical knowledge. This helps the students in a big way in understanding the basic Technical knowledge which forms part of their curriculum. Thus Mechanical Engineering is the backbone of all branches specified. In addition Collaborative  Programmes such as HND , both STC  and GCNS , are given the basic Engineering Inputs - Theory to enable Cadets to acquire basic skills for further enhancement during their Education & training at UK.

Specialization of the Department : Basic Mechanical Engineering inputs to all DG  & Programmes such as Engineering Mechanics, Thermal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Material Science, Mechanics of Machines, Thermodynamics, Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Engineering Graphics, Dynamics of Vibrations, Design of Machine Elements.
