STCW
department is one of the earliest
departments of AMET and is responsible
for ensuring that the provisions under
“Standards of Training, Certification
and Watch Keeping” (STCW 95
IMO Convention) is complied with and
relevant STCW courses are conducted.
The department also caters to many
Value Added Courses requested periodically
by the Shipping Industry. Presently
the following STCW courses are being
regularly conducted.

· GMDSS (UK)
c. Other courses / Value Added
Courses
· Oil Pollution Preparedness
Response and
Cooperation (OPRC) IMO Level –
2 Course jointly with Indian
Coast Guard.
· Various custom suited courses
on request by Shipping Industry. The
department has recently installed
a full mission synchronized Bridge
and engine simulator, the most advanced
seamless simulator in the country
by any Maritime Institute.
We are in the process of starting
specialized courses such as Ship Maneuvering
& Bridge Teamwork (SMS), RANSCO,
ARPA, Engine Room Simulation (ERSM
and ERS) courses and further conducting
advanced programs to facilitate various
Shipping related research studies,
in order to derive the full potential
of its software/hardware capabilities.
